Please, understand that if you are from a "major" city that is not in the Midwest, you probably will not like it here. Students are very close-minded and come off as not knowing much, so they are very ignorant. Everyone expects you to either drink or smoke, so if that is not what you do, you are the minority. That is what most people do here, so they do not have lives outside of that. Sad, isn't it? I would say 85% of the student body is judgmental and do not know how to converse with different people. Uniqueness and non-conformity is not valued here. Next, I will discuss the campus food. The food is extremely tasteless and does not cater to people who do not eat fries and burgers all damn day. The online menus tell you what will be served for the entire month. Do not be surprised if it is the same thing listed every single day for breakfast and lunch. Yes, those menus are very redundant. Next, I will discuss the dorms. The low-quality antique dorms are not air-conditioned. That's just a heads up for people who like central air conditioning. Stay in the newer dorms if you have the money. I did. The Mount Pleasant atmosphere is extremely lackluster and dead. Townspeople resemble zombies and come off very weird. Most of the people here act funny and you should think twice about starting conversations with complete strangers. People from here tend to look up to those from different states, so that is a plus because you could probably teach them a thing or two. If you do have the chance, you should attend another university. This university is not huge on diversity. It has a bunch of international students from "God knows where" and is predominantly white with a short number of blacks. There are some other folks in between, so that is where they'll stay, in between. You do not want to go here. It is very boring and I am not the only one who says this. This town is just big on football and drinking to the point of insanity. If you like small college towns, then that's fine but I would not recommend it. Also, finding jobs on campus is hard because they are very picky and not willing to train. Don't waste your time. Go to a larger school with better opportunities, because you'll have a better chance of finding a job. Stop being cheap and go spend the extra damn money, because you probably won't regret it 10 years down the line. This school isn't anything special, so I don't know why people keep putting it on a pedestal. Oh wait, I know why. It's because they're all townies and Michigan folks. I am telling you the truth, straight-to-the point, and as blunt as possible because I won't sugarcoat anything. This is the real deal, so it's not my fault if it comes off negative. You can take from it what you want, it's on you.
