I'm in Carleton's Bachelor of Honors Humanities program so my review may not be helpful to many prospective students as the Hums degree sort of functions separately. The classes are extremely small for the core courses so your professor definitely gets to know you on a first name basis- to the point where you hang out in your spare time. I will not lie- the program is VERY difficult but you get out of it what you put in; for the most part. There are times when I feel like I am not doing as well as I would like, but then I realize I didn't do one reading and it's probably my fault. In that case, it is very easy to fall behind. The social aspect and friends are up to you- as it would be anywhere. Sometimes I feel that Carleton does not provide many activities that are condusive to getting to know a large group of people, or they're too large to get to know anyone. All in all- I'm glad I'm at Carleton; mostly because of the program I'm in. Aside from Classics and Journalism- I don't see it being that fantastic. |
