My experience at Wittenberg has been nothing but positive. My professors are AMAZING - every professor I have had has been brilliant, caring, accessible, and willing to do whatever it takes to make sure I succeed. Being an adult living off campus, I am not interested so much in social life, but it appears to me that there is always something to do on campus: sports, live music, charity events, clubs and groups to join, parties. There is a heavy emphasis on Greek life, which does not interest me. The town of Springfield is not nearly as scary as some students seem to believe. I have lived here my whole life and have never been the victim of violence or any crime outside of minor vandalism and theft of a snow shovel from my front porch! There are certain areas you don't want to walk alone (like any medium-sized city in America), but they are not near campus, and anyone with some common sense can look around themselves and realize they are in a less than safe neighborhood. If you use your brain, travel in pairs or groups, and keep a cell phone with you, there is no reason to fear Springfield. It's a rust-belt city with an amazing history that is trying to reinvent itself. |
