Some technical degrees that terminate at the AS level will get you a job—at Eastman, that is—as an apprentice being paid around 40,000. However, if you value intellectual achievement at all (and, really, that is what college should be about, not a place for career, or rather, job preparation)or would someday like to get out of the noxious east TN atmosphere do not go here. Grades are not indicative of understanding and are largely dependent on the completion of busy work, even in honors courses. I thought that I would do well anywhere I went, that the thirst for knowledge would pull me through any academic environment, but I have come out of the experience disillusioned and disappointed. Do not expect any sort of preparation for a "real" college here. Two years wasted. Apply to the best schools you could possibly get into and try to get as much aid as possible there. Do not settle for this. |
