The foundation classes are there to provide just that- a basic foundation of the rules of art, be it color theory, spacial relations, line & shape, dimension & history. If you do not feel like this would benefit what YOU do as an artist, then go to a community college. If you would like to expand your talents & skills, then go for it- how will you break the rules in new, exciting, original ways unless you KNOW THE RULES? If you can't serve yourself in some way, you won't survive here either. The professors are great (most of them) so TAKE ADVANTAGE of them. If you sit around and wait for them or others to hold your hand through your "educational" process, then you're not going to make it. Go take your sense of entitlement somewhere else.If you think you are going to art school for a free ride, big party and draw some pretty pictures and then be handed a free ticket to Pixar, Disney or any of the biggies, then go somewhere else. The friends that I have that made it to those places worked their tails off from day one at SCAD and took advantage of anything that was offered in terms of connections, help, advice, and internships.Yet, nowadays, you have a bunch of punks thinking they don't have to work for anything. Fine by me. The more lazy, good-for-nothing, so-called "artists" there are in the world means more amazing, great-paying, creative jobs out there for the remaining hard-working real artists like the rest of us!Just save your parent's money now if you don't want to work or feel the need to complain about hard work. This school ain't for you… |
