Where do I start?

This will be my un-biased review of Santa Clara University from MY perspective, other people may not have felt the same way but here goes nothing.

Academics:

From a Business Major standpoint, academics are pretty well rounded. Classes aren't TOO hard, but definitely time consuming, and teachers will know whether or not you put in the correct effort. My Business Teachers every quarter were amazing. First quarter I had a Business teacher that owned multiple-corporations and really gave me a hands-on experience of what its like to do work in a Business world. Heres the problem though, 2nd and 3rd Quarter Business classes are built around "How to be a leader", in my opinion you could teach that in 2 classes but for some reason they wanted to spend two quarters around such a simple topic. But it doesn't really come out so cut and clean. DISCLAIMER: When signing up for Business classes, there are RARELY any open spots if you get one of the late sign up sessions which is completely ridiculous in my opinion. Why am i paying 50,000$ a year to go to a small public school simply to know i might have to "sit in" on a class just to get in?? Back to the teacher topic, I had one math teacher who could hardly speak english and I really dont know how he got the job..

Diversity:

Santa Clara does a decent job promoting diversity, but still the majority of the campus is white. More specifically White people from California. Then again you have your fair share of Asians, Latinos and Black people, but most of the groups hang out by themselves. There are many opportunities for students to join Multi-cultural clubs around campus.

Campus:

Campus is stupidly beautiful its as easy as that.

Food:

One of the major problems at this school. Not necessarily the Cafeteria, because Benson does provide quality food for a college campus it just gets SOOO repetitive its unbelievable. There will be times where you have Popcorn Chicken and Mashed potatoes once a week. Oh and Benson points usually run out pretty fast which has Males looking for their lovely Female counterparts towards the end of the quarter. Since theres only 1 Cafeteria, theres not too many options of what to eat, the only other food around is Taco Bell, Safeway, Round Table, and Stuft Pizza, and usually you'll end up using FLEX dollars at all of those places. Bronco is amazing though, good grilled burgers, pretty good fries, chicken tenders and so on for late-night eaters.

Partying:

Partying at Santa Clara is +/-, in the beginning during Fall Quarter EVERYONE goes out to start the year, it dies down towards the end of Fall, and once Winter starts Frats and Sororities start rushing and having formals so most parties are exclusive. Then it starts up again in the spring with a nice selection of day parties hosted by the fraternities. Pike guys are pretty chill but have a bad reputation among girls, Sigma Chi guys are pretty neutral and nice guys, Sigma Pi is just Sigma Pi, its easy as that, they only let girls in their parties cause most of them are too ugly to find their own. Pike is the only frat that knows how to throw REAL parties. DG Girls are known as sluts, Alpha Phi girls are the pretty well-rounded, and Thetas are just whatever.

Dorms- On Campus Living

I was a freshman that lived in Swig and honestly that was probably the best decision Ive ever made. I'm a pretty outgoing person and Swig is the hall that probably 65% of freshmen live in so i had a great time meeting a whole bunch of people. There was alot of pre-gaming in the dorms before going out and the CFs were pretty chill. Dunne was close by which was another freshman dorm but obviously it doesn't compare to swig because Swig is where its at. I cant talk about Campisi or Graham because i didn't really know anyone from there, but Swig was close to Benson and Parties, a nice stumble home.

Overall I really enjoyed my freshman year at Santa Clara University, i live kind of far away so at times i would get home sick but i met a lot of amazing people. There are definitely moments where I feel that i would rather be at a bigger school but then again Santa Clara does provide a nice "family" feel. San Francisco, Santa Cruz and San Jose are cities that are close by for concerts and day trips.
