Whatever you can study at the college and do in and around Durango you can do somewhere else and with more options available to you as well. The cost of living is almost certainly cheaper anywhere else than in Durango as well. (The average cost for rent is between 1500 and 1800 dollars a month and not even for a really nice place)Living on campus isn't cheap nor is it nice enough to pay for either. What Fort Lewis considers a "nice" dorm-and therefore costs extra-is a standard room at most other colleges while the other dorm rooms are outdated military barracks. As far as faculty goes I have had no real problem with the majority of my professors, like any other college there is good and bad, I have had some really great professors as well as some shitty ones though as a whole I would say that the faculty is a good one. It is a whole other story when it comes to the administration however, especially when it comes to how money is spent. (One of the schools' biggest problems is with the native American tuition waiver that the college offers to students who qualify. It is not a financially responsible agreement as it currently exists and the school refuses to modify it any way which might alleviate costs) |
