I just had to post something after reading through some of these reviews. First I would like to say, Marywood is on the Cold Sober top 20 list, so why in the world would anyone that is a big partier want to come here. Do the research before picking a college; it is a big expensive decision. Actually there are many students that do drink; there are lots of parties off campus and by the University of Scranton. Some students sneak bottles into Regina, out of all the dorms this is the one where student don?t seem to get caught. But Marywood is a dry campus, so if you do this, don?t get caught. I participate in a sport, so I only drink socially in my off seasons. The parties are fun and a great way to meet new people. There are many things to do at Marywood and in the Scranton area, but just remember, no one is going to take you by the hand and entertain you, and this holds true for any other college. I have made many friends and enjoy just hanging with them. You have to get involved, there is something for everyone. The people that are complaining I feel must be lazy and just want to constantly get drunk, in other words losers. I guess it is hard for some to socialize without boozing it up.As far as academics go; I have not had a professor yet that I did not like and they all know my name. They have all been very professional, helpful, and have encouraged me to do my best. Marywood offers many ways for a student to find success. Professors all have extensive office hours, there is a writing center, and tutoring if needed. Marywood also offers special seminars and lectures, from learning sign language, software programs, to guest speakers on various subjects, so students can get that little extra in their education. The food is good! When you visit a school, you should always check out their cafeteria. There is a good selection of fresh healthy meals. The student body is mostly white coming from New York, Jersey, and all over Pennsylvania, but I have met quite a few international students and some from other states. I live on campus, so I had the opportunity to meet a lot of people and I can honestly say that everyone is really nice. My two years at Marywood have been wonderful. I look forward to returning in the fall. I am actually missing my second home so much right now. I love my classes and all the people at Marywood. I feel fortunate to have selected Marywood, as I have many friends that went else where and were very unhappy. If you are looking to make that college decision, do the research first so there will be no surprises. I hope this helps. |
