Overall I would say as online Universities go AIU (American Intercontinental University)is a good school with a lot more emphasis on academics than I expected. I am a fairly bright person. A bit of an under-achiever earlier in life but finally woke up :-). I have found the work at AIU fairly challenging. In that aspect I would say that I would NOT categorize it as a "Diploma Mill" at all! You definitely earn your grades! With that said… The unfortunate reality sets in after you begin studies (e.g. tuition is paid) that you are customer and not really a student. I say unfortunate because I believe if they treated it more like a real University they would be right up there with some of the traditional schools. All in all I definitely feel more prepared in the field I am getting into (I.T.- Network). I am not even half way through my B.I.T (Bachelor of Information Technologies) and feel confident enough to test for certifications (A-Plus ect)I don't necessarily plan to go to school when this is done so I don't really care whether my credits will transfer. |
