Statistical Analyzer:

Mizzou is a good school. You have to make it work for you. There are 33,000 students here and many don't make it through. I received my undergraduate degree and found it to be an extremely valuable asset. Bottom line: a lot of kids come here and they aren't ready for college, a lot of those kids get Cs, Ds, and Fs. Columbia is a great town with lots of bicycle paths, restaurants, bars, and so on and so forth. Beautiful nature is abundant—Mark Twain National Forest, Rock Bridge State Park, Katy Trail State Park (statewide bike path along Missouri River), and various conservation areas surround the city. I like it here. It's true a lot of teachers are researchers, whose interest in teaching probably IS secondary. That being said, you get to know researchers and can probably get a job as a TA, or RA. Internships are plentiful. Opportunities at MU are like ripe apples on a tree, just waiting to be plucked from the branches.
