Some words of advice:
Don't go to this university, seriously.
If you MUST go to this university for some reason- Do not live on the North side of the campus. The buildings are older and in worse condition than the South side. What ever you heard about "north side" being the quiet side and "south side" being the party side is simply not true. They contain practically the same types of people.
Some of the professors are really really good. Others are just outright dumb. Some of the professors are really nice and lenient. Others WANT to see you fail for no reason.
Your fellow classmates are an interesting mix. Most of them are arrogant elitists. Some of them are down to earth. You just have to be able to tell the difference at the beginning and stick with the down to earth peers.

Whatever you do, do not procrastinate TOO much. Start on them essays a week before they are due. DO NOT do what I did and stay up at night for hours trying to get a paper done for a class the next day. One thing that American University did teach me was never to procrastinate to the last minute again.
The food at the cafeteria was adequate, no complaint here.
The safety of the University was good in my opinion. Even though I do not know why the security people needed to ride around on Segways, oh well I guess we all know where your money is going to.

All in All, just don't go to this University. There are cheaper schools that are much better than this one.
