This University is the largest, fastest growing University in the state but is also the least funded. You encounter lots of problems when it comes to using the latest and greatest. I have been told multiple times about the broadcasting department requesting 120k for new cameras and only getting 30. You deal with what you get though and they certainly have. The Digital Media department is fantastic though. All the teachers are knowledgeable and experienced in what they are teaching. I have had classes taught by legitimate Hollywood producers, directors, and editors. You learn from practical experience and getting out and participating in activities with your classmates. Summer boot camps are held where students come and film a medium length film with the teachers in a professional style environment. Broadcasting is done each semester and the School is just starting to get legitimate in that. This semester multiple games are being broadcast nationally on Fox Sports, and the students direct, produce, shoot, and organize the broadcast with very little help from the teachers. It seems daunting, but the way everyone is so open and helpful about it is fantastic. There is no rather school I would rather be at. |
