I have been here for two semesters and I know most of the positive postings here are made by the administration; because they don't correspond with the reality of students' experience of at FMU. The outside of the university is nice but buildings are ugly and rotten inside. Bathrooms are unsanitary and dangerous especially in the evenings. I witnessed several drug dealing transactions. As many other post have complained, the administration is incompetent and doesn't seem to show any interest in changing the situation. Since they are losing too many students, they don't care about anything other than advertizing. There is also a major issue of employment. Florence is a depressed town and has practically nothing to offer. There is nothing for students. Although less than 20% of each class makes it to graduation, a degree from FMU is worth nothing. I would say, it may be better not to have it. Most of FMU students are depressed and want to leave FMU; but they are stuck because FMU has poor reputation in the region; so nobody wants you. I know dozens of students who transferred to Darlington Tech and, frankly, I am considering the same. With the economic situation of the country, FMU is the worst thing. They don't teach any useful skills and they don't even have career services like other schools. |
