I was given the impression that Augustana was going to offer both a social life and academics that would expand me as a person..make me expand my horizons. What you really get is a small set of students that are ALL alike. Augie's idea of diversity is having a few international students. VERY VERY close minded student body, cliquey, more "high school" then high school actually was. The staff is amazing, really, but they don't expect much. They have very low standards. In my time here I haven't had to work hard at all...well, I've barely put any effort into anything and I'm doing very well. I'm from Chicago and came from a very diverse, well respected school in the city. Augie is neither. The academics are a joke (the perspectives they make you take are honestly ridiculous and a waste). I feel as though my term here has been a waste. Nothing is outstanding about the school. They put too much value on making you feel good about what you've already done, not wanting to make you expand and stretch your boundaries...if you're looking for complacency go for it, if not..run. Also, the location is terrible. Unless you have a car and know the quad city area..you're stuck on campus. Which shuts down usually at 7. The surrounding town, Rock Island, its very lowly and unsafe. Beware the Augie Bubble.
