Unfortunately, I feel that my Kaplan experience was more detrimental to my success than helpful. The tuition is ridiculous for the certification earned, and the pay for the position is barely above minimum wage; so the costs of loan repayment is not even possible on the new "earned" income. If I were to speak with new high school grads, I would strongly suggest looking into the traditional college and avoid programs such as the learn fast, earn fast approach. The money spent on the useless "certifications" would more greatly benefit a person if applied to a more student oriented school: Kaplan, in retrospect, was just a "get 'em in and get 'em financed" type of experience. College is definitely beneficial, you just need to be sure to find one that is tailored to fit your long term needs. |
