Anyone wanting to go to college in New Mexico needs to SERIOUSLY consider NMSU as an option. Guess what?!-even staff members of UNM take NMSU classes!! Really says something about UNM, right?!

Ok, where to begin…

First of all, good faculty members seem to leave in droves every semester-and who can blame them?! No funding in their department means inadequate pay. This, in turn, leaves less and less available classes for students by the semester. But guess what-buildings keep going up (as opposed to one or two being fixed every decade). The University even purchased new, ugly and expensive signs for their campus. Aesthetics are LITERALLY more important to to the administration than the future of the students. Oh, did I mention that these pricey new signs are falling apart?!

Ah, the students-closed minded. Also, they seem fed up with a university which doesn't seem to realize that students are people and not solely a mechanism whose presence pads the pockets of the corrupt regents. That, and the definition of 'multiculturalism' at UNM is focusing on nothing but Hispanics and Latin America. There's less emphasis on Native American history and culture than UNM would have you believe. This is sorely disappointing. Also, UNM seems to miss the fact that there is a whole world outside New Mexico and Latin America worth paying attention to.

I wish I had considered NMSU. I am lucky that I am finishing by bachelors in the nick of time before it ALL goes to hell. There are less and less classes with each passing semester-even core classes required for completing a degree program-and decent professors to teach them by the semester.

So, this all seems pretty negative, right? But you may be asking yourself-'why did this person list this rating as advise instead of just hitting the "negative" button?'. Here's my advise-know that there are other options other than UNM that are high quality and affordable. Las Cruces may seem like a less than ideal place to live, but you may end up with a better quality education. Heck, even other states have good quality universities who offer more than UNM is capable of offering its students. You have options.
