I have a diagnoses of bipolar, I asked for support and flexibility, I didn't get any - my essays were always 1sts and 2:1's however, they refused to give me a final placement in year 3 even though I got a glowing report from my 1st placement. Their reason was they thought I was too vulnerable due to my mental health difficulties. I have felt from year one, the lecturers have been trying to get me off the course. The lecturers said I was being paranoid and put it down to me being bipolar. Although i consistently got high grades and did an excellent placement in the mental health area, the lecturers panicked at year 3 as they realised I could probably pass the course, so they threw me out anyway. There was no access to disability support services, the lecturers were not supportive, I asked for an extension for one of my essays for the 1st in year 3, they declined, later I found out they gave extenstions to other students who are not registered as disabled. |
