The education program is a four year program, but in order to get your license you have to stick around for an additional year. I graduated with an education degree, but I cannot teach in the public schools because I do not have a teaching license. I was going to complete the fifth year, but I couldn't stand the corruption in the College of Education any longer, so I decided to leave the U with just my undergraduate degree. When I looked into transferring to other schools to complete my licensure, I found that I would have to take essentially two years of coursework even though I just had a couple methods courses and my student teaching to complete. If finances are a concern for you, if you are not interested in having an additional year of college to deal with, if you want to attend a high-quality education program, or if there is a possibility you might have to move or transfer at some point, do not attend the University of Minnesota. It is an absolute money trap. |
