It did not work for me. Granted I made the most of my college experience, I made friends, joined a Korean sword fighting club (loved it) and went to all kinds of cultural events hosted by different countries and I even might get to see Ghandi's grandson speak next week. Despite this, I am leaving next semester for a community college, biding my time there till I get to UMBC or UMD. If your aiming for a diversified school, and want to meet all kinds of people this is not the school for you. If you are into large campuses you may not like it. My feelings for this campus is that it is not too academically competitive in my classes, a lot of people are just satisfied with aiming to get a C in their courses. Anyhow, Starting out as a freshman the classes were not much harder than honors or AP courses in high school (at least in the lower ranked 100-101 level courses). I actually thought my AP courses were harder. The professors were awesome. At least the ones I had.As for the student organizations go, for sure you can find stuff, but in my experience the majority who really went to the clubs were upperclassman at least from the other clubs I tried. To give you the heads up, some of the clubs may appear cliquey, but that is everywhere in any college or high school, I'm sure. The largest student organization on this campus is CRU, which is a christian organization. Dorm life is meh. My floor is noisy with people banging on the walls. Other housing on campus may not be this way. The walls are paper thin, so you hear a lot. Of course this is not anything different for any college. I would recommend doing the living learning communities here since they get nicer dorms, if you apply. I did not during my freshman stay here. The people in general are approachable and what not, but sometimes I feel there is a one mindset thing going on. |
