Naturally the campus experience at IPFW is nothing like the "college experience" at either of those Universities. But its not supposed to be. IPFW is a functional, and it functions perfectly well. I see several students who are angry that IPFW isn't giving them the "prestige" & "diversity" they dreamed of. Well, those students shouldn't have applied at IPFW. That's not what IPFW's for. If that's what you want, you'll have to spend the money and get the GPA for those types of schools like everyone else who did the extra work to go to them. I for one, think its pretty cool that schools like IPFW exist for students who either have struggled financially or academically, or for those like me, who's high school grades were way below their potential because they had a little too much fun during high school. Either way, I had no delusions about what I would get at IPFW. That's why I'm here. Its very naive to come to a school like this and expect it to be anything like the college experience that's in the movies and on TV. It's not. Good thing too, because alot of us here at IPFW are way past that maturity level. IPFW is a low-cost, second chance school that gives hard-working adults, both young and old, an opportunity to earn a top-notch degree that will compete in the real world. Nothing more. And that's what matters here, getting a good job. Putting food on ur family's table without having to work a job you hate to do it. Not getting some grand social experience and character building "diversity"! Come on, get real. That stuff won't matter for longer than it takes for the hangover to end. People would do well to first, realize "where there are" in the world, and second, be grateful for the opportunities they are given. If you blow this one, you may not get another chance. Don't forget, you might not turn out to be quite as "special" as you think you are. |
