I just finished my fall quarter of my third year at poly and I must say that I love it. SLO is an amazing area, there's so much to do and see in the surrounding town, plus great places are not too much of a drive away. This last quarter alone I played polo in LA, went to Lake Tahoe and ran a half marathon in Las Vegas. You're in an amazing region of the country - be sure to take advantage of all that it has to offer. I've loved my experience as an animal science major. Poly is all about hands-on and I've had some amazing opportunities to do things I would've never thought possible: castrating piglets, pregnancy checking dairy cows, collecting stallions, vaccinations, and dissections. Poly really prepares you for vet school if that is something you're interested in, it has a great reputation.Social life is what you make of it. I don't really drink so it wasn't my scene, but you can pretty much find a party off-campus thurs-sun every week. The campus is beautiful and easily walkable. Also, pretty hilly, so a great work it. The rec center is currently getting redone and will be finished in 2013 - supposed to be incredible, so you incoming freshman are lucking out.I highly recommend poly to anyone! |
