Grinnell is not for everyone but it does not falsely advertise. The academic experience has been outstanding and I feel well prepared for graduate school. Grinnell has been generous with its scholarship (given a second scholarship my junior and senior years without asking)and opportunities (paid expenses for seminars). If you are doing great work, they will work to keep you (in terms of finances). I have made a lot of friends and the students are very collaborative with work. The downside for me has been the weather and the lack of much to do in town. There is a lot of drinking which is probably a biproduct of the cold, long winter and the lack of local entertainment.
