Statistical Analyzer:

Denison provides a high quality education, and fosters valuable critical thinking skills. Creativity is encouraged and embraced, and faculty are immensely helpful and dedicated. I have certainly learned a lot at Denison.

With that said, I have never experienced a more stifling social environment in my life. I have grown increasingly frustrated and surprised at the level of immaturity that seems to spread like wildfire on "the hill". Generally speaking, students are extremely cliquey, conforming, obnoxious, and disloyal. Though the percentage of students involved in greek life is supposedly less than half the population, greek life seems to take over the social culture of the school, lending "night life" to consist of loud, bland, sloppy parties in cramped rooms. The school definitely makes an attempt to provide alternative social opportunities, but they are largely poorly attended and/or promoted. It is extremely difficult to meet people and develop friendships after your first semester, as by then everyone is already locked into their groups and closed off to the idea of becoming involved with anyone new. If you are fortunate enough to fall into place outside greek life, you have to make your own fun (which can be a good thing), but keep in mind that there is essentially nothing to do outside campus.

Basically, Denison is a typical undergraduate college experience (enter the laundry list of college clich?s). If that's what you're looking for (for four years), you probably can't go wrong with Denison - the education is top-notch. But if what you're seeking doesn't involve doing the same thing every week and weekend, do yourself a favor and find another school to attend - preferably one that isn't so small and isolated.
