Don't get me wrong, I have met more than a few brilliant students here, but most of them just make a game out of class. As for the majority of students, homework is for when they wake up at 4pm on Sunday and pop an adderall and an Ibuprofen because they are so hungover from their four day long alcohol bender. However, alcoholism is not an issue on campus - it's the goal. Of course, college is what you make of it, I can't argue with that. Just don't come here with the expectation that you'll be surrounded by "engaged students" in x number of extra curricular.. those numbers are inflated or manipulated and I'm still wondering what they are engaged in. The only benefit to this is that the good professors are dieing for good students. If you can catch their attention, that will make it all worth it. That is, if you are lucky enough to find them. If you are reading this, you probably think I'm part of the extreme that would be motivated to write on studentsreview, and you'd be right. Maybe my experience isn't typical, but I've made up my mind about posting this "review".. not everything is as it seems, and just realize that like anyone trying to sell you something, Elon works very hard to project an IDEAL image. I just wish it were completely true.PS on a positive note, I just want to reiterate - there are some great professors here who really, really know their stuff and are really, really good at teaching it. I have friends in the UCONN compsci and business programs who can not understand their professors. I am so glad that when I'm challenged by my courses it is because of a few good professors and not a language barrier. that being said there are a few professors who are bad, and the rest are average.. kind of like the student body. Choose wisely, in more than a few ways. |
