Wifi never works. And when you ask about it all it tells you is "tomove to a window." Library is never open, instead the school keeps the gym open. Expect oer half of your teachers to have barely any command of english, and most are unforgiving - I had a death in the family and went home for the funeral and the teacher took off attendance points and wouldn't gie me the coursework which I missed during the week even though I gave them ample warning. Have a 400 level class to take? Hopefully you can speak japanese because that's the only way you'll be able to understand the teacher and ask questions. Want to talk to the head of the math department? Well better be able to communicate in Chinese (not sure if mandarin or cantonese). A lot of the anthro teachers hate mainlanders and don't hide their hate either, even if you're going to college to work with presering indigenous cultures and languages. I would recommend manoa oer uh hilo. Every year they talk about taking student fees to help with the state deficit too. |
