Emporia is a really beautiful (but small) campus. I LOVED the small campus and community feel as an undergraduate and would recommend it hands-down for that reason time and time again.

Unfortunately, the faculty in the psychology department rarely play nice with one another, and the advising in that department is spotty. I am a very dedicated student (graduated with over a 3.8 from ESU and a 4.0 from grad school) and pay very close attention to the classes I need for graduation but, had I not, I could have ended up staying an additional semester because of faulty advising.

I found that the majority of students at ESU do not work as hard as I do, and would become upset any time there was more work to do than they felt they should "have" to do. I thought this was unfortunate because I went to school to be challenged and did not find that most classes were challenging.

There are some wonderful professors (Dr. Kelly in Political Science, Dr. Holmes in Psychology) but there are some that are grumpy and difficult to work with. HOWEVER, there are a lot of opportunities for research at ESU as everyone supports you in that. Class sizes are small, and most classes are taught by professors, not GTA's.

Great services at ESU for student success like the health center, counseling center, and very nice cashiers in the Brusar's office. Very hard to find a part time job in town and the career services office is awful.

Overall, I'd say it was worth the money that I paid, but I do wish they would boost some of their services.
