Moraine Valley has an excellent reputation in the healthcare field and most hospitals in the SW Chicagoland area prefer to hire MVCC grads. The director and assistant director of the HIM program are fantastic and dedicated to the profession. They foster student development, are active in the HIM profession, foster career advancement, and have a lot of integrity. The classes are focused and provide real value toward career advancement. As an adult student, I felt valued and respected. Some students have a difficult time remaining in the program due to scheduling conflicts. Classes are held during the day and evening hours, but the director tries to accommodate students if possible. If there is a request to hold a certain class at a certain time, she will do it if enough students request it and if she can find faculty to cover it. Clinical rotations are assigned in local facilities and students can request assignments. Many clinical rotations lead to jobs upon graduation. Moraine really prepares students for the national exam, and the results consistently rank much higher than national averages. Most years, 100% of HIM graduates pass the national exam. |
