Currently, I go to the Central Park Campus (McKinney), but have gone to the Spring Creek Campus (Plano) as well. Let me just say, this school is a GREAT VALUE. Cheapest tuition in ALL OF TEXAS! I got into decent schools coming out of high school (A&M,Arkansas,OU) but decided to stay home and attend Collin for a year. I saved around $20,000 by doing this! My total expenses for the whole year was around $100 because I got a scholarship that covered most of it! The campuses are very very nice especially for community colleges. They honestly look better than some 4 year universities I've looked at. Beautiful buildings. The faculty is also good for the most part. Occasionally you may get a professor who doesn't speak very good english, but just check RateMyProfessors.com to check out your professors before registering for classes. The classes are pretty challenging(at least more than High School). The social life here isn't terrible, but you HAVE TO PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE! In many classes it's obvious the students don't want to be there and keep to themselves. Just be friendly and check out some of the student organizations and you should be fine. You'll meet some great people here if you just look around. Collin College is also a great community college when you're looking to transfer to a 4 year. I've known people here who get into places like UT-Austin, SMU, Baylor, etc. They also have a partnership with local colleges that gurantees pre-admission. Some of the colleges are UNT, UTD, A&M(I think), SMU, and a couple other decent schools. This school really is the best bang for your buck. Will be attending here again in the Fall. |
