I feel that I gained a wealth of knowledge and work ethic by attending the University of New Mexico. Because I had not planned to pursue a college degree in HS, UNM was as good a choice of school as any for me. When I first started out I really didn't know what I wanted to major in. I had always played guitar (self taught) and knew that I wanted to further my playing and musical abilities, but my music reading skills were limited. I took the entrance exam to get into the music theory courses and the professor gave me the chance to prove myself. I ended up being one of the top students by the end of the semester and I was well on my way to becoming an exceptional musician. UNM (as far as the music dept. goes), was/is great. Professors are great and so were my fellow students. I don't plan to go into music for my graduate studies or for work, but it is a passion of mine and I got what I wanted out of UNM in terms of becoming a better musician.
