I would not recommend this school to anyone. First of all this is school is a private institute, not a "real" college like HACC, Millersville,or any of the other nearby colleges. It's an institute, like ITT tech. The school is waaaay overpriced and the poor quality of education you receive at YTI is not worth several thousand dollars. ITT tech tech is lambasted for it's poor quality, well YTI is no different.

I attended the criminal justice program and was not happy. First the admissions crew are like used car salesman-they will say anything to get you into the school. they will promise you many things such as fancy certifications (most which are useless, self serve, and will be getting them again if you happen to get hired by a first response institution, so why even bother? plus many of these certifications expire after a period of time). The admissions staff will lie to you just as they lied to me. I was told my credits were transferable to Penn State, turns out only two colleges(neither are Penn State) will accept YTIs credits, and not ALL OF THEM.

The class schedules have a lack of flexibility. The teachers here come right out of the street-most have never taught in a school institution and have no teaching certification whatsoever. these teachers are incompetent and are you there to receive a paycheck. They don't care nothing for the students. Imagine yourself, a serious student looking to broaden your knowledge and your teacher wont teach or help you? Some of the teachers here don't teach at all, they will waste your time talking about whatever stories they manufacture to make their previous careers look epic, talk about politics, jersey shore. It's really a waste and unfortunately some students went along with it. One particular teacher there will waste your time taking the class out to Venice pizza rather than teach or help us with out EMT class. Very lazy. The teachers here think they are the shit, well they aren't. If you worked your whole life at a small police station in a small town, come back to me and tell me it was epic if you worked in a hardcore city like Baltimore or New York City.

The school will also force you to wear a uniform, and since the school is on budget, as of today you will only get one polo shirt. wearing that thing over and over will smell and i doubt anyone will wash clothes everyday. they treat you as if you were in the police academy. This is criminal justice, not police academy, just because I choose this degree doesn't mean I will be a cop, i may choose something else related to the field of criminal justice. Besides, you are better off going to the police academy, it costs only 5000 and one you complete it, you can get a job readily as opposed to going to YTI, paying over 30 000 dollars and be in debt. A degree from this school is only as good as toilet paper.

So If you want to be a cop, don't go here, go to a normal college and get act 120. Or join the military and try to become an MP. Far cheaper and better. If you want to be an EMT, go to HACCs EMT school or a local hospital that offers the course, you will only spend 800 dollars as opposed to YTI's 5000 dollars a term. Firefighter? Volunteer, go to HACCs fire academy, then go pro. You will have the training and experience. Want to be a counselor? Go to a real college.

Don't make the same mistake I did of going here. And one time i asked a instructor If it was ok to use him as a reference. He said no because If he did it for me then he would have to do it for all. This shows that he is a lazy piece of shit and doesn't care for the success of his students.
