Many would point to either the faculty (mainly professors) as the problem. After being there for 6 years and graduating I will address what I feel is one of the main problems of this school; the lack of outstanding, respectable, mature and serious students.

It seems that there many lazy students expecting to cheat their way through the college work. I have heard students who would take advantage of professors and yell at them over emails. I heard that there was an incident recently where during a Biochemistry exam a majority of the students were caught cheating with overwhelming evidence. The problem was that this was THE MAJORITY OF THE CLASS and professors are already stressed enough because most students aren't willing to put in the work to actually pass the class. And so there was nothing the faculty could do. I will even share one year where several students were arrested for having attending an off campus party which was raided by the police. The students actually attempted to run away from the cops and got caught. Some of these students were kicked out… some others actually made it all the way to graduation. It seems that every freshmen class makes questionable choices but in all honesty this simply reflect who they are as students. If you hear that certain students are doing cocaine in the dorms what kind of impression would that give you?

The basic problem is that the school is to desperate at accepting almost any student they can regardless of scores grades and attitude. It seems that if you have they money, you can get into the school. I attribute that problem to administration but NOT the faculty. I will vouch for the faculty in saying that many of them during my experience actually went out of their way to help me succeed academically. They have been respectful and real with me. I assume that other students who have said otherwise were rude and disrespectful. I would say the profile of the problem students are kids who have attempted to get into a state college or a well known university but failed BUT their families are wealthy and so they would rather try buy their way into any school but a community college (which there is absolutely nothing wrong with).

Word of advice that should be common sense but I will say it; Be prepared to work. You might see state colleges and have a picture in your mind that college is all about playing on your Xbox360 and toga parties. There is a time an a place for that BUT for a majority of your time here at MCP be prepared to learn how take care of sick people. Be prepared to do work. Be prepared to be challenged and grow! Stop bitching that a professor is not doing enough for you. Do your work and get that degree.

Another word of advice, find good friends to keep you focused. Avoid those who are just going to bring you down and try to cheat off you.
