While I mostly wish somebody had shaken me when I announced that I was going to a 4 year school for art, I really regret not having assessed my situation about 2 years into the program. There are a handful of wonderful instructors there that are passionate and talented. There are also instructors there that are just working toward their next paycheck. College for an artist outside of the design field is kind of ridiculous and unnecessary. No one cares if you have a degree.

My message:

Attending this college will cost you about $18,000/yr (or more), leaving you broke, facing a very competitive field with mediocre skills at best, and having to pay off your debt over the next decade or two. Whatever your choice, good luck to you!
