I once believed in the mission of Capitol College. But, the college has successfully turned a true believer into a cynic. The college speaks highly of influencing students with leadership, independence and more leadership. But as I have seen first hand the college is more involved with who has more power within faculty and staff rather than promoting leadership within students. There are less than 10 faculty members that truly care about the success of the college, the rest are on a "power trip". Why would a small college need more than 3 vice presidents who don't show accomplishments, but rather buy nice cars. Or a VP who leads campus improvements and hasn't stepped foot in the dorms in years. Financial aid is only concerned with merit. No matter if a student shows potential or leadership, merit is the only concern. The school does not see students as investments. Students graduating from Capitol with a popular degree and have some smarts will make at least 50k upon graduation (most of the time before graduation). But, the college fails to see the return on investment; IE, the college financially aids a student and promotes leadership; later in life the student will be financially successful and want to give back…but this is not the way Capitol operates.

The college employs some very helpful professors who want the students to succeed, but the politics of the college get in the way and hinder their ability to teach the way they think is best. Admissions accepts almost everyone and brings in a majority of students from inner city areas, most who could care less about learning. Those who care are very successful.

I was happy that I chose Capitol College over other schools, but after realizing how the college operates, 75% of the administration should be fired.

Capitol College has potential to be a great college, but lacks the vision and legwork to make it happen. Many other students share these thoughts.
