I am a international student studying the William and Mary - St Andrews Joint Degree program, majoring in Economics. Going to William and Mary has been one of the best decisions of my life. The academic atmosphere is very conductive to learning - professors generally demand excellence, and are keen to provide all the help you need to achieve that. Every professor has a few 'office hours' per week, when you can just drop in and ask questions and discuss the course. Professors are genuinely happy to see you go their office hours and often go the extra mile to help you. The student body is very cohesive, with a strong emphasis on helping each other. It is also incredibly diverse in terms of social class, race, academic interests, and down right quirkiness. It is a place where people are not afraid of being different. All in all, W&M is what a liberal arts college should be: opening, tolerant, friendly, and tight-knit. If you are open to new challenges and take initiatives, you will be rewarded handsomely in this university. |
