The USAF Academy prepared me very well for Active Duty. Most Academy graduates will have a step up in the first 3 years over their ROTC and OTS counterparts. The Academy has also prepared me for the finance world. When you graduate from a Service Academy, you have a work ethic that is unmatched by graduates of other institutions. Most kids from regular colleges are ill prepared for the real world but a graduate from the Academy, for the most part, is financially and mentally prepared. The only bad thing about USAFA is that it carries more weight in the west than it does in the east. However, if you are dealing with serious professionals, they will know about USAFA, so don't fret if you get this feeling that people don't know where or what USAFA is in comparison to USNA or USMA. All of the big milestones in my professional life thus far have been attributed to the Academy. I am very thankful I went there! Would I do it again? Probably not because it was very challenging and the hardest years of my life, but I am thankful I went through it. |
