When people call Missouri the best journalism school in the world, they do it for a reason. You get real world experience and you truly figure out if this is what you want to do as a career. There is no messing around in the department, so be ready to work once you start working at the Missourian, KOMU or wherever your emphasis area puts you. A LOT of people drop out in the first couple of years which shows that it's not easy, but if you make it through, you feel quite accomplished and you are more than ready to get a good job straight out of college. I have stayed in Columbia to work, but my friends/peers have received jobs in New Orleans, Dallas, Washington, New York, Chicago, Tulsa and more, all straight out of Mizzou. Where else do you see that happening? |
