After reading most of these reviews I have to say I agree with most of them. Being in FIU these past three years has been pure torture. First of all most people here are totally rude and unfriendly. This goes for both staff and students. This makes it extremely hard to make friends. Another thing I absolutely hate is how GC is arranged. There's practically never anywhere to sit because all the greeks "claim" certain tables just to stare and talk crap about people. I'm sorry but last time I checked we were in college not high school to be dealing with that crap.

Now that I got into the subject of greeks, something else I want to point out is how absolutely ridiculous it is to try and be involved in anything. Most of the year round things happening in FIU are runned by greeks and if you aren't one then your chances of getting any type of position is reduced.

Second off, the amount of fees is ridiculous. During my first two semesters at FIU I would car pool yet I still had to pay the parking fee of $90. There was also an athletic fee which I find stupid considering the fact that we have pretty mediocre sports teams to say the least.

Parking is another issue that bugs the hell out of me. Its not enough that you have to pay $90 for parking but the amount of time you have to spend looking for parking. Sometimes whole parking lots or floors of a parking garage are closed down for "special events" only to find a small amount of cars and a whole lot of parking spaces that students can't use.

I also want to point out how unstructured enrollment is in this school. It is almost impossible to get the classes you want because they fill up before your enrollment date/time which is really unfair. FIU has a very poor selection of classes. Sometimes as little as one section of a class is offered which can be an issue if it is what is standing between you and graduation.

Classes are not that bad but you really have to do your research to make sure you don't end up with a really crappy teacher.

Food on campus can and will get tiring. There is not a good selection and the lines can get pretty long, especially in the bookstore starbucks and the regular starbucks in the library.

The only good thing I can say about FIU is how well it is kept. For the most part, it is very nice to sit outside and walk around but it is really not enough to make me like it. If I would have known how terrible this school is, I would have gone to another school in a heartbeat. Please avoid at all costs!
