Oh, SUU. Let's start with the good points. The campus and surrounding city are beautiful! I've never experienced a more beautiful fall or winter in my life (and coming from the snow-capped mountains of Salt-Lake, that is really saying something.) The campus is small so you get a decent amount of individual attention (if I see one of my professors wandering around they always greet me BY NAME, which is cool). It's large enough that you are always meeting new people but small enough that you are able to establish close relationships. On-campus housing is clean and well-kept (at least Cedar Hall.)

Socially, because its such a small town there is next to nothing for you to do outside of class. The school hosts some events but for the most part you are left to your own devices when it comes to finding things to do on a Friday night. Movie nights are about as exciting as it gets if you're not into partying. Speaking of parties, they are hard to find, but aren't completely non-existent if you know the right people. Basically, social happenings seem to be few and far-between. Most students are so bored that they end up driving to their hometowns or just do the two hours to Vegas on the weekends. The students are very nice but the majority ARE Mormon which can make it hard to establish relationships unless you are willing to convert. Friendships come easily but you will usually face pressure from new friends to attend church functions.

Academically, SUU is not very challenging, classes aren't particularly interesting, and few professors are actually good at what they do.

I don't necessarily hate SUU because I have made some great friends and done some fun things since I've been here, but it hasn't been without A LOT OF EFFORT. I personally wouldn't recommend this school to friends or family, but your experience will ultimately be what you are willing to make of it no matter where you go!
