I am originally from Charlotte, NC, and it was my plan all along to go to community college for the first two years. I was homeschooled and did dual enrollment at CPCC for my first class. After that I switched to RCCC and liked it much better. I found all the faculty at RCCC to be very helpful and friendly. It felt much more relaxed and enjoyable when interacting with staff. I felt so much more at home. I spent all but one of my classes at the south campus. It's very small but I love that, I think it makes it endearing. I loved most of my professors, some more than others, but found my experience at RCCC to be a great one. I did not know what to expect from the coursework entirely, because you hear a lot of things when it comes to community colleges. However, my experience was not a breeze, but was manageable as well. I was challenged in at least one way in all my classes. I think it really prepared me for a four year university and I am so grateful for my time at this school. Not to mention, as a gay female attending this small and stereotypically "country" school, I was always accepted and can count on one hand the bad experiences regarding my sexuality, and none of them were even directed at me personally, they were things overheard or said in class. I am very proud of RCCC and to call it my school! It gave me a great foundation and I am so thankful to have attended. |
