I had chosen Marietta for several reasons: the campus was attractive, there was a rowing program, the school was small. If I knew then what I know now about the school and the surrounding area, I would have made a different choice. The school, both faculty and a great deal of the students, had a conservative feel; and the surrounding town is basically hicks. I would have preferred a more liberal school, maybe in a more liberal area. Although, I will say that I made some lifelong friends there. I felt prepared for my career when I graduated, so I have NO problems with the education. But, since you live there 24/7, there's a lot more than just the classroom; and I would have preferred something else. Also note that the campus has changed greatly since I attended. All of the dorms I lived in area gone, the rec center has tripled in size, a new library was built, and so on. So, the campus aesthetics are somewhat different from when I went. |
