They tell you during orientation that The New School's campus is New York, which is an indirect way to say the campus of The New School is minimal and spread out. This works for me though. I love New York City and I love how they incorporate the city into our classes. There is so much hands on learning it can be nearly insane. The New School professors give out work and assignments like your only taking their class, but all in all, its for your benefit because your learning so much, and really the work is quite doable. I myself have plenty of free time and so do other New School students. Its just when we have to work, we HAVE to work. No joke. I've read different reviews stating that the students here are stuck up and snooty. That may be the case for some, I don't think thats a good generalization. There are plenty of nice people here. Their approachable and for the most part, mean well. Does that mean that people can't be stuck up? of course not! it is a top art school. People from these professions tend to think their better than other people even if they don't outwardly voice it. However, you can also find that in many other top notch professional schools, like the Ivy's.All in all, I love my time so far at The New School. There are times when the community could be closer, but I feel as though that's due to a lack of building facilities and strong clubs. In due time those things will come along, but overall, Parsons is a great place to learn, make friends, and develop your skills. |
