It has a nice small campus environment and a beautiful campus. Most professors are friendly, the student body is amiable, there's a brand new student center, they give a lot of money financially, there's a castle!, a quiet library, and Philadelphia is about 25 minutes away (car or train). However, that's about it. There are a lot of things that a prospective visiting student won't see. There is a dearth of intellectual excellence at this school. The average high school student would without a doubt be considered an "academic elite" here. Everything is rather pricey, including housing arrangements where (THEY WONT TELL YOU THIS) you are more than likely to be living with 2 other people in less than 400 sq. ft. The food is without reason some of the worst substance on the entire east coast; you'll essentially starve yourself when you find out the MAX meal plan is only 14 meals a week, roughly 2 a day. Not to mention, there's nowhere on campus to get a quick snack. Most of the professors are very bright, but have trouble conveying information to students. There are occassional activites to do on weekend, but most are low-budget activies which garner little to no interest. Lastly, weekends here are an absolute ghost town. I can not put into words what happens here. It's almost as if campus closes down. To add, there is not much to do on the weekends. Even if you have work to catch up on, the library times on the weekends are a bit unfair (not open till 1pm on Sun!). Take it with a grain of salt, but if you are planning on coming to Arcadia, don't expect to be "wowed" in any capacity. |
