I rated myself as "Bright" because I joined mensa once. I was an international student and I took the culture fair test. If I was "quite bright", I wouldn't have chosen WPI in the first place. Apologies if the writing of this review is too plain.

I chose to be a Computer Science major and I have to say the program didn't fail my expectation. It's true that I have learned a lot, and I'm grateful for the well-organized programs WPI has. I like how people take their studies seriously here.

That concludes all the nice things I can say about this school. Now, I'll go over the reasons of my ratings below B-.

Creativity + Campus Aesthethics: This school lacks creativity. The architectures are aesthetically dull. Students are aesthetically dull, too. I have heard that some students come from upper class families, but I guess that's just rumor because I can't tell from their poor presentation. Philosophy classes (in fact, most humanity & arts classes I've taken) lack good discussion. I wasted my money on those because there isn't much point taking a discussion class if no one raises issues beyond textbook talks. That's also why I said "Students are Afraid". I think most of them are too scared to think outside of the box. For some reason I don't know about.

Perceived Campus Safety: There are increasing numbers of robberies and assults around campus. Campus and Worcester police failed to catch most of the suspects.

University Resource Use: I might be biased, but it's truly not impressive compared to other good schools in MA.

Social Life + Extracurricular Activities + Surrounding City: I actually had a social life in freshman year. A good one, too. Then things started going south. It's mainly because there is not enough interest sorting students together by their interests. All the clubs are loosely formed, and they appear to be lame and exclusive. Everyone seems broken in some way. It has things to do with Worcester being the most boring city, too.

About students: I would not recommend any Asian students applying for this school. There were more racists than I thought. Two of my roommates were racists, some classmates were racists (things they said while I was IN the classroom include: "We should destroy the Great Wall of China because it was built upon slavery" and "…jobs are hard to find. We should stop outsourcing to those Asian countries" and "I think they like you because..er.. because you are Asian or something. Yeah.") and some faculty members were culturally ignorant. On the other hand, if you are European, by all means apply and get in.

Knowing that people are culturally ignorant- in this era- is painful. I don't think they are bright. And I think they are closeminded.
