It is quickly outgrowing it's older buildings with the large influx of new students. There should be a cap on applicants allowed in each year. It is very hard to register for classes needed to complete a 4 year degree in 4 years because classes fill up so quickly. If you are a senior or a junior you get first crack at classes but freshmen and sophomores may not get to register until 2 or 3 days after registration has begun. It can be frustrating. The focus at MTSU is more on business/aerospace/nursing rather than liberal arts. This is reflected in the condition of the liberal arts buildings -overcrowded, dilapidated classrooms with very few technological tools available in the classrooms. The new science building will be spectacular but I assume the old building will be appropriated by the liberal arts college in its present, dilapidated condition. Overall, MTSU is a good choice but expect the tuition to continue to climb due to all the construction and expansion going on there. |
