Renewable Energy Technology

Avoid the Renewable Energy Program at all costs!

People in this curriculum don't have the qualifications or credentials to be teaching this material.

Here are the credentials for the two primary instructors ,that teach the majority of the RE classes, as listed on the Penn College website.

Wayne Gebhart
Education
B.S. Ed., Mansfield University
Electrical Certificate, Thaddeus Stevens Trade School
Trade Competency Certificate, Penn State University

Jon Hart
Education
B.S. Electrical Engineering Technology

  • Rochester Institute of Technology

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Bloomsburg University

  • Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist

Pathetic when most teachers here have a relatively impressive list of credentials and accomplishments listed under their names.

Also, where is the business and industry experience that the Penn College Values statement claims all their instructors have?

If you truly with to learn about renewable energy, go elsewhere. I paid for labs that didn't exist, paid for required tools (some costing hundreds of dollars each) that they never taught us how to use, every promise they made us never happened, we were used as free labor to install a lattice wind turbine tower with total disregard to student safety (that tower has since been dismantled and replaced with a monopole due to the incompetence of Gebhart), I never saw a working PV system despite the fact they have one on campus (Gebhart was just to lazy to show us), never saw a working turbine, never learned how to size a PV system, never learned the building codes that apply to renewable energy, never learned anything that Penn College claimed we would, it was just a total joke all the way around and the lazy, do nothing Dean Marc Bridgens allowed all this to happen despite relentless complaints from multiple students. President Gilmore and the rest of the school's administration should be absolutely ashamed of themselves! PROFIT BEFORE STUDENTS…

Richard Taylor, who teaches the solar thermal class, actually did an excellent job and if you look up his credentials you'll see why. If the rest of the curriculum was even half the quality of Taylor's class this would be a much different review.

In short, Wayne Gebhart is an egotistical, arrogant, self-absorbed, braggart who's undeserved since of accomplishment prevents him from seeing how his laziness and incompetence are robbing students of the education they're paying entirely too much for.

Save your money because the only thing I learned was DRILL BABY, DRILL!!!!!
