I can't tell you if it is different now or not, because I have no desire to go back. At MBI there was no place to hang out or have fun other than dorm lounges that are low key and only a few people having real conversations. There was NO DATING at this school. Looking for that special Christian "someone"? When I attended NO ONE DATED. They just "holed up" and tried to get out of MBI. It got so bad that a professor who was there in the 60s-70s held sessions on the problem until MOODY SHUT HIM DOWN. This is quite true and did occur.PCMs often were not good. MBI had a lot of criticism from this, and basically said if your PCM is bad—it's YOUR FAULT. That however is not the case, the problem is the city, the churches, Moody's connections, and to some extent only individuals and how the assignments were done/organized.Is MBI BIBLICAL or teach enough Bible? In some things, yes—some professors do a great job—but overall, it's NOT NEARLY BIBLICAL AS NEW STUDENTS THINK (and no, I'm not Catholic or a pagan who slipped in the door). New students are often FLOORED by how Biblical it is—but this is due to a lack of Bible in society—not a strong Bible program at MBI.PRO-UNIVERSITY EVENTS - IT's EVERYWHERE. It seemed most of my time at MBI was bouncing from event to event—the 10/40 window, founder's week, chapel, live radio, singers, music, etc.. It can be fun, but honestly I don't really remember ANY of it and it didn't help me connect with Chicago communities nor MBI students nor help my walk with Christ. The propaganda is so strong that it almost mind-washes certain people. This is about as frank as you can get on a review and it took me a while to sort it out. I WISH this review had been positive, but that was not my experience. |
