I lived in South Hall my first semester and it wasn't the best experience. I made a few acquaintances but was expecting to make friends. My RA was standoffish and was not friendly whatsoever but that can happen at any school. I ended up moving out for my second semester and now live in an apartment because it was a waste of money living in the dorms and I was extremely unhappy there. Since about 85% of the students that attend are commuters it can be difficult to make friends around campus and in classes. The only people that I see make friends (and pay for them) are the people that are apart of Greek life. The party scene is not that bad. It depends on the weekend. Parties can be so much fun but sometimes weekends will be absolutely dead. Academically, it is alright. I have had some great professors that are willing to give out of class assistance if need be but I have also had professors that make it very clear they are there to just get paid. I have had 3 professors that refuse to meet with students outside of class to give extra help and that cancelled class at least twice a week. I would recommend going on the rate my professor website before picking classes. Also, extracurricular activities are not a huge deal around campus. I have met people that love it here but I have also met people that cannot wait to get out. Do your research before attending and try to make the right decision. If you are looking for a more personal college experience where the advisers and professors actually care that you succeed, this is not the school for you. I wish you good luck. |
