There's a lot to say about this school and I don't know how to even start. To start off, most of the students are commuters. If they are not commuters, they might as well be. About 90% of the students live within 20-30 minutes away from the school. They just have rich parents willing to pay for them to live away from home. On that note, almost everyone at this school has money. So expect snooty people. I'm from a middle class family and I get looked at weird when I explain money situations or stuff like that. If your family does not have money, people got in by HEOP or whatever it's called. So most of the minorities are a bunch of kids from places in Brooklyn or the Bronx that just don't look like they belong on this campus with all the snooty white kids. Housing is nice compared to most schools because you do have townhouse style dorming, but as freshmen, its not so great. You have disgusting bathrooms, you're across the street from the main campus so get ready to walk in the rain. I remember my first week of college I had to change my clothes 3 times for everytime I went to class because my clothes were soaked, so invest in an umbrella. The campus is small however, which is good and bad. It's good because everything is right there for you, however, you will see everyone on a daily basis. At STAC it's not like,Oh I've never seen him before. No, you saw him every single day for 4 years. Everyone knows everyone. Everyone knows where everyone lives. Security here is a joke. They don't do anything. They drive around in golf carts and just patrol but do nothing about anything. I know at one point some of them were seen smoking weed while on duty. RA's come to your room every single night just so they can make sure you aren't doing anything wrong. So if you're coming here thinking it's a party school, it's not. You have to work around when RAs may or may not show up. If you get caught you get written up and have to go to a meeting and explain why you were drinking. I think it's pretty self explanatory why you were drinking, but you have to do it anyway. The classes are easy for the most part. Only thing is they don't care if you have a lot of work on finals week. They will pile it on, so people like me who care about my grades, are all chill during the year but once midterm and finals week come around I'm a hot mess and I'm stressed out beyond belief. Really think before coming to this school. |
