Coming from southern California, there was minimal culture shock and more excitement than anything. Still, as time progressed, I grew beyond displeased with the demographic of my fellow students. It's a commuter school, so it really does feel more like a community college. I had to live off-campus, which is a no-no in social circles because the dorms are full of cliques. Everyone (at least the vast majority of freshmen I encountered) seems to be competing for who can act most like they're a party kid in high school—it's embarrassing. The faculty is a mixed bag, much like any school, and the work is reasonable but still very reminiscent of high school. Administration is next to useless. This school has not challenged me, educationally or socially, and is a tremendous letdown. |
