If you want to get a degree and be done with college - go here. If you want to drive to Austin every weekend to party - go here. If he want to be apathetic, unmotivated, passionless, and a carbon copy of everyone else - go here. UTSA is all about making a name for itself right now. The school is growing and changing, but very slowly. It'll take a few years before this school even has any culture other than "hit it and quit it" from the parties to the academics - everything about UTSA is tired, repetitive, and down right awful for growth. San Antonio is slowly waking up as well, but is still a sleepy city with lots of nothing to do. The river walk and the Alamo aren't the only places to go - but finding your own niche is almost impossible. People aren't friendly. People hold onto their pride. And that reflects straight back onto the way the university treats creativity and learning. Honestly, even though this school was cheep, easy, and a good way to get a decent degree and move on with my life I would never ever suggest for anyone to go here but an idiot. And if you're researching colleges, I'm assuming you're not an idiot. Do yourself a favor and stretch your limits - UTSA is not a college, and it's not even a community college where you can avoid too much work and start getting an income. This place is a cop out to trying harder and changing yourself. If you're in the CAP program here, everyone will dislike you and you'll only make friends with CAP students. |
